Live at Bastione - EEF

EEF stands for Early Ettringite Formation is a quintet of young musicians from Marche.
The group was born from the mind of Mattia Leoni (drums) and Umberto Ferretti (guitar). After several years of research and writing, they decide to concretize the project by finding the right elements for the complete training. The group proposes a project of new music with influences Rock, Funk, Fusion. In the spring of 2018, they recorded the first demo containing three original tracks and took part in the Tour Music Fest 2018, reaching the final in Rome and placing in third place throughout Italy. The Tour Music Fest was held in Rome. They participate in the Forum Jazz Live in Forlì with Dave Weckl and Mike Stern reaching the semifinals. They completed the recording of their first album "Horror Vacui" in March 2020 at Spaceship Recording Studio in Recanati.. The album perfectly expresses the concept of the "terror of emptiness" that has always been presented in different artistic forms from painting, sculpture, architecture, which uses the act of filling an entire surface of a work with finely detailed details. As in Byzantine, Gothic and Baroque art, the concept of Rock can also take shape through a "decorative exuberance".
After the release of the first album "Horror Vacui", there are important changes in the band that will finally see the voice Edward Gili. The Band with the new line-up in profit since November 2020, has lost no time and immediately started work on new compositions, experimenting with new sounds and is already working on the release of the next album. In the summer of 2021 they were selected among the 15 finalists in the contest "Music for next generation", which provided for the modern reworking of a classic piece, thus having the opportunity to perform at the "Theatre Upside down" in Trento. They play in important festivals such as Urbino Jazz, Fano Jazz and others.
Downtown is the first single with the new line-up, released in November 2021, followed by "What I Should Say" on
second single released in March 2022. In February 2023 they participate in "Una voce per San Marino", reaching the Final, ranking 9 in the Top Ten, over a thousand participants from around the world. In March 2023 they win the 2nd prize at the International Contest "On The Music Waves" with their song "Downtown"
The name EEF Early Ettringite Formation is inspired by the world of chemistry: the primary ettringite is a compound that is formed in the phase of taking cement and is what gives it the compactness and the typical stone character. The project was born from this purely scientific explanation, where it was captured the most philosophical: EEF Early Ettringite Formation is the marriage between five elements of different extractions that, mixed together, give rise to a solid compound such as cement.
