The Natural Sciences Museum of Fano presents a vast collection of around 5,000 unique finds, including fossils and minerals, as well as a section dedicated to archeology and one to ethnography. A living place where nature speaks of itself.
One of the hidden jewels of the city of Fano is certainly Palazzo Bracci Pagani, in the historic center. The splendid monumental building today is the seat of the Natural Sciences Museum, but, as desired by the founder Countess Diana Bracci, it is also a culturally active center that caters to the community by hosting important exhibitions and cultural, artistic and scientific events.
This space is made up of numerous and rich collections that embrace multiple sectors: from mineralogy to paleontology, from archeology to numismatics, to ethnography. In particular, we note a rich collection of minerals and fossils from all over the world but also from the surrounding areas, which helps us to imagine an environment that is now totally different but at the same time close to us, of now extinct animals of which the territory of the Marche it was very rich, like the fossil fish of Metauro.
The collection of ivory artefacts is also prestigious, one of the largest of oriental art in Italy thanks also to donations from private collectors. A fascinating and stimulating world that helps us appreciate the wonder of the natural world in all its nuances and reminds us how much everything in nature changes and transforms.
